I don't think Obama should be held to a higher standard than other Presidents. I do believe that he himself has created incredibly unrealistic expectations for what he can or will accomplish as President. This is of his own making and he is the one that will have to live with the consequences.

I think a segment of his vote came from white voters who really expected that with his election we will finally get past the issue of race......they will be wildly disappointed. We will hear about nothing but race and it has already started. Tavis Smiley (not sure about the spelling) has already been quoted as saying Obama's election is only a small step. Affirmative action, reparations, etc. will be high on his agenda. This doesn't exactly sound post-racial and there will be much more to come.

Obama himself said that he will change the world, sea levels will stop rising, the globe will stop warming, etc. He now has to live up to those words. The fact is the world is still a very dangerous place and this will be apparent soon enough. His voters are going to be very disappointed.

Obama's prescriptions for the current economic problems are in my view the exact wrong way to go. When he raises taxes on all Americans that pay federal taxes he will tell us that the problems are much worse than even he expected. He will blame Bush, the media will go along and we will all pay the price.

So I completely agree that he should not be held to any higher standard than he has set for himself in his campaign promises. He can not and will not be able to meet his own standard. But all his promises did get him elected......
