We are in the middle of what I would consider a pretty major remodel. We are using a price plus contract with our builder. My biggest problem is that I don't believe that the subs are being reasonable with quotes. This is a three bathroom house. Only two of the three will need to be re-plumbed and the kitchen will be moved but still fit into the existing drain system. The plumber wants 16,000.00 for standard PVC plumbing. I think that will be a profit of about 15,900.00 If anyone can suggest a plumber that would like some work and has fair prices please let me know. I don't know if we are getting elevated prices because of our proximity to Russell's high end homes or because these folks have worked those jobs and expect everyone on the lake to have limitless funds. In the last thread someone suggested buying over building. I have to say that if I had it to do again I would not have purchased an existing house. Too many warts that we didn't see until after the purchase.
