I had a stingray on my Javelin 17' boat with a 115. I have not looked at the iboats page to see what concern they have; but I would highly recommend the stingray or similar equipment. I tried the new fancy stingray and did not like it as too much stayed in the water and slowed down top end, but the Stingray II worked great. Popped up on plane in no time, could go much slower on plane, and lost no top end speed as the foil is almost completely out of the water at full throttle. As for hitting something, if you hit that high on your motor, you have bigger issues than messing up the plate. I would be more concerned about hitting something with the trim tabs and ripping them out of the firberglass. Just my $0.02, which aint worht much these days.
