You could replace it with a automotive pump. I am reasonably sure that your pump would be of the marine variety so that when/if it fails it will not spill fuel into the bilge of the boat. Most of the marine pumps have a clear tube running from the up to the flame arrester to keep that from happening. If it were me, I would replace it with exactly what came from factory. That way there would be less of a fire hazard. My .02 worth.
