Hasn't Obama already said that they are going to send additional troops to Afghanistan? I believe he has -- so then it's up to McCrystal and Petreus to figure out what kind of troops they need and work with the Pentagon on where they are going to come from.

You know, we do have a SECDEF, A Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, a Centcom Commander and the various Service Chiefs. So it's not likely that Obama is in the dark about Afghanistan -- it may be McCrystal's ego that is bruised since you don't get to be a 4 star without a rather large ego.
