If you are looking to buy as an investment now may be a good time but who really knows. You say there are alot of not occupied homes. That is because many are owned by weekenders who don't come every week. It is only really busy from Memorial day til about a week after the 4th. Rest of the time it's very peaceful. But unlike many others here I enjoy watching all the activity for the few months knowing they will be gone soon. Rent a place for a month. You'll be hooked.
