Trump needlessly attacks the Republican governor of New Mexico, blames her for economic problems in the Southwest, further fueling the impression that his shoot from the hip style is erratic & personal. Adding to the mix: She’s not only Latino, but she’s a she…. And Trump shoots himself and the GOP in the foot again.
Declines to take the opportunity to apologize for insulting John McCain at Veteran’s rally. Campaign manager says, “no plans to do that”. Accepts Rubio’s apology for saying that his johnson is too small though.
Declares that the California drought is a hoax, perpetrated thru poor management by government agencies. Promises to end water restrictions and turn the water on again if elected. 5 years of below average rain & snow fall, and he simply says the drought doesn’t exist. Possible rephrase coming next week: ‘I meant that I am going to make it rain if you elect me”.
Hints that the Clinton’s had criminal participation in the death of Vince Foster, ruled a suicide by multiple investigating agencies… and occurred 23 years ago. Journalists are beginning to puzzle about how to cover intentionally false statements like these without seeming biased against him or giving him airtime just because he made up another whopper.
It’s worth noting that normally politicians (and people in general) will quit making outlandish &/or false statements when publically discredited by multiple sources that refute them completely. This is not the case with Donald Trump though. This doesn't appear to deter him the slightest bit.
The narrative is that supporters are waiting for him to show he can be ‘more Presidential’. I think what we are seeing is that Trump now has so much confidence in himself & a sincere conviction that his supporters are almost worshipful of him…. So he can reject the wisdom of being “Presidential” and just be himself.
