I've been checking the lake level via APC's 800# and have noticed that the lake is up a whopping 18 in. (so far) since late Wed. night!

Before Ivan, they were dropping it fast with 4 turbines running most of the time a few days prior to the storm. I must commend APC for the tough job of trying to provide proper flood control during times like this. I notice they have cut way back on releases today -- I feel sure to reduce the load already on the Alabama River.

Just for a little trivia, when they were running 4 turbines they got up to releasing water at 18,500 cu. ft. /sec. That equates to roughly 139,000 gal./sec. or 1.2 million lbs. of water/sec.!!
