drunk boater hits cliffs

I’m writing this to in an attempt to put some of the assumptions, innuendos, and gossip, to rest. According to some of the participants in this form, I am “The Drunk Idiot” who crashed into the cliff Weds. night. Whether it was pilot error, inexperience, visibility conditions, or me just being an Idiot as some of have said, or a combination of the above, I’ll let you all be the judge. But contrary to the assumptions and beliefs of man that rescued me and his wife, Alcohol was NOT and did NOT contribute to this accident… The reason I couldn’t hardly move or talk had everything to do with the fact that I had 2 fractured ribs, a compression fracture in my back, and my left lung was bruised, along with some other internal injuries... That’s why the paramedics came and carefully removed me from the boat because I was in to much pain to move on my own. They certainly didn’t come all the way out there to get me off of the boat because I was drunk… HELLO! Anyways back to the accident all I can do is tell you all what I know happened… I don’t know exactly what time it was but I’m going to guess it was about 8:30 pm, it was very dark and I was running about 35 miles an hour, north bound on the lake across from Rock . I remember thinking how dark it was and flipped on my docking lights to see if that would help.. I started looking up slightly to follow the tree lines for night time navigational reference points, I glanced back down looking over the bow of the boat and I thought I saw something in front of the boat and started making a smooth turn to the right and the next thing I knew I was floating in the water gasping for air… The boat ended up about 20 yards away from me. I struggled to get over to it and get myself back on it to cut it off because it was still running. The boat was about 20 yards away from the shoreline, so that means I was about 30 or 40 yards away from the shoreline after I was initially thrown from the boat. I noticed that it was taking on water pretty fast or that it was sinking and started calling for help, and honking the horn, flashing my lights… Several minutes later another boat pulled up and SAVED MY BUTT. Thank you very much! Whoever you are! I OWE YOU! In the end, I don’t know what I hit folks. I don’t know if it was cliff, or something in the water before the cliff, it all happened very fast and it was very dark… I was very LUCKY that night and EXTREMELY LUCKY that the other boater was there to help… Again, thank you very much and when I start feeling a little better and get back on my feet, I plan on coming out and thanking you personally.
