Had you bothered to read the story rather than use one rhetorical sentence from it to downgrade a politician, you would understand what he was saying. The article wasn't about famine or obesity; it questioned why world leaders fail to take preventative action towards disasters that they know are coming.

And famine and obesity will not "cancel each other out." There is famine of Biblical proportion taking place in many parts of the world right now; at the same time, obesity is becoming a problem right here in America. Yes, famine and obesity at the same time. But those two particular problems are brought up to illustrate Clinton's point, that leaders worldwide-- that means the whole world, not just the tiny corner that you care about-- are facing problems that could have been prevented had they spent more effort on stopping problems before they got out of control.
