ALL snakes can swim.

A trait of pit vipers (Rattlesnakes, Copperheads, Water Moccasins) is that they will almost always swim on top of the water. So your comment "Notice the snake inflates itself so that it floats on top the the water, unlike a moccasin" is not correct. And it's not inflation so much as the thick body type of pit vipers that leads to them swimming on the surface.
