I have seen the Canadian health care system in action. A close friend of mine's twin sister had a very rare form of breast cancer which has a survival rate of 20% for 5 years. She was denied Tamoxifin (the standard follow up drug after breast cancer) because her rate of survival was so low. Thankfully, she is now a 9 year BC survivor, but she still does not get the yearly follow up tests that would be standard in this country.
So we don't want a Canadian system.

But, as I understand it, some of the Scandinavian countries have government controlled health care that works quite well, with a high standard of care.
