The real problem is Archie likes to speak for others and knows not of what he speaks.

Of course Joe Scarborough is broadly speaking a conservative but you have to understand there are shades of conservatism like there are shades of liberalism. What I don't like about him is he seems to think the formula for financial success is to bash his fellow Republicans. It gets him only so far as evidenced by the fact that his book advocating Rockefeller or Lincoln Chafee brand of Republicanism completely bombed. The reason it bombed is because, while it may appeal to some moderates, it only takes a cursory examination of history over the last 25 years to see that true fiscal and social conservatism is the only way to electoral success.

McCain provided the most recent example that the national electorate is not interested in Democrat-lite. And Republicans that eschew fiscal conservatism will be tossed out of Congress on their ear as well they should. The only way we will be broadly successful is if we take the argument for conservatism to the American people which if articulated in the right way appeals to enough moderates that hold mostly conservative beliefs.
