Subject:   I just read a 19th century quote

Your take on life is very much like the 30 year old who wrote Walden and later, Civil Disobedience. I would have loved to read a book by Thoreau when he was 60 to see if he had changed his mind at all after actually living life… but he died at 44. In a perfect world we could all be self sufficient and live like transcendentalist--- but nearly every attempt to live in a pure transcendentalist world has self destructed. The Amish have perfected it but still look for outside sources to gain advantage. Even Henry left his cabin on Walden to re-enter society. If it was so perfect I have often wondered why he did not stay there.
