No, you do not understand. Southerners are not allowed to forget slavery. We are constantly reminded by media of our faults. Documentaries. Movies. Books. And, there are no injured slaves walking around today either. Although descendents are eager to cash in if possible.
Heritage is precious to me. I am Scots, then South. Both have suffered under oppressive governments, and still are. But they have survived, so far. I still love that stars and bars and I honor my tartan plaid. Always will, despite the pressure from the Politically Correct to hide it/deny it.
Go away. Make a cake. But, don't tell me to forget my heritage. I am much too proud of it.
